Our position on what is taking place in Ukraine
22 April 2022
We are constantly monitoring the evolution of the war in Ukraine and we are deeply shocked by the terrible news and images of what is happening. We would like to express our solidarity to the Ukrainian population and to all of those who are affected by this conflict. The Barilla Group condemns the war and is aligned with the international community in calling for peace.
For 145 years, Barilla's mission has been to provide food to people. For this reason, right from the beginning of the conflict we have offered concrete help to the Ukrainian people. To date, we have donated over 170 tons of Barilla and Mulino Bianco products to the humanitarian associations that are managing refugee centers in Poland, Romania, Moldova and Ukraine, hoping to offer comfort to those who have been forced to flee their homes.
We have also committed to donate 1M€ to international NGOs that provide support to refugees, such as the Italian and International Red Cross, UNHCR, Unicef, Save the Children, Caritas and the Italian Civil Protection. We stand ready to expand our support as needed.
At the end of February, we have decided to put on hold all new investments and advertising activities in Russia, suspending non-essential business activities and limiting production to basic food items - pasta and bread. We have also decided not to take any economic advantage from our presence in the country. In this context, we will continue to guarantee the salaries and to ensure job continuity for our local employees.
Finally, we are keeping in constant contact with our local distributor in Ukraine, offering support and help in case of need.
Barilla People around the world stand together with solidarity and unity to support all people, companies and organizations working towards peace.
