THE VIDEO WITH THE FORK ROLLING GESTURE BRINGS GOOD LUCK TO FEDERER AT WIMBLEDON
8TH TITLE FOR KING ROGER IN THE SAME YEAR AS BARILLA TURNS 140
JUST AS THE WIMBLEDON TOURNAMENT
The fork rolling gesture video that Barilla created to cheer on Roger Federer (with more than 3 million views on Facebook) did bring good luck to the Swiss super champion who triumphed at Wimbledon. Once again pasta has been
King Roger “invisible” supporter, as he added the 19th Grand Slam win to his collection.
Since the first Wimbledon tournament held in 1877 no tennis player has ever won the way he has.
Federer reached his accomplishment – 8 titles won on the London court – in the same year as the Parma Group celebrates a milestone: 140 years of age and aiming to become the preferred company for people in the world.
The Barilla Group has always been at Roger Federer’s side in the conquest of his 8th Wimbledon win. Before the tournament began, it created a go-get-them video with the hasthag “#GoRoger”, showing Roger Federer playing with the very Italian gesture of rolling the fork, echoed by other sports celebrities such as Gregorio Paltrinieri, Danilo Gallinari, Thomas Muller and Mikaela Shiffrin and that turned out to be a real good luck charm. And it was widely successful on social media, as it exceeded three million views on Facebook.
2017 therefore celebrates two big accomplishments, whose common thread is 140 years of history. That of “King” Roger Federer, the champion extraordinaire, who triumphed at Wimbledon in his own way, without ever losing even a set, as if all the records and titles he won during his career would not be enough. From 1877 until today, no other athlete has ever reached the success of the Swiss tennis player, who is also Wimbledon’s top winner: 8 titles, the first won fourteen years ago. Well done! Chapeau.
And that of Barilla, the proud daily supporter of the Swiss super champion, at the dinner table and on the court, that celebrates this year its 140th birthday(just as the Wimbledon tournament). A great “feat” for a company born out of a small pasta and bread store in 1877 in Parma and today world leader in the pasta business. A family business, Italian, ambassador of the Mediterranean Model of eating, with a sustainable business, recognized all over the world as the symbol of the Italian know-how.
Barilla has always been a company close to the world of sports and athletes. It has been tied to the great champions of today and of the past, like Steffi Graf, Stefan Edberg, Alex Zanardi, Bebe Vio, Ricardo Kakà, Federica Pellegrini and many more. And also to stories of success which are unforgettable: such as the historical sponsorship of the A.S Roma, 1982-83 Italian Football Champion. Since 2015, Barilla is also the main sponsor of the basketball Italian national teams.
