The fork rolling gesture video that Barilla created to cheer on Roger Federer (with more than 3 million views on Facebook) did bring good luck to the Swiss super champion who triumphed at Wimbledon. Once again pasta has been
King Roger “invisible” supporter, as he added the 19th Grand Slam win to his collection.
Since the first Wimbledon tournament held in 1877 no tennis player has ever won the way he has.
Federer reached his accomplishment – 8 titles won on the London court – in the same year as the Parma Group celebrates a milestone: 140 years of age and aiming to become the preferred company for people in the world.
The Barilla Group has always been at Roger Federer’s side in the conquest of his 8th Wimbledon win. Before the tournament began, it created a go-get-them video with the hasthag “#GoRoger”, showing Roger Federer playing with the very Italian gesture of rolling the fork, echoed by other sports celebrities such as Gregorio Paltrinieri, Danilo Gallinari, Thomas Muller and Mikaela Shiffrin and that turned out to be a real good luck charm. And it was widely successful on social media, as it exceeded three million views on Facebook.
2017 therefore celebrates two big accomplishments, whose common thread is 140 years of history. That of “King” Roger Federer, the champion extraordinaire, who triumphed at Wimbledon in his own way, without ever losing even a set, as if all the records and titles he won during his career would not be enough. From 1877 until today, no other athlete has ever reached the success of the Swiss tennis player, who is also Wimbledon’s top winner: 8 titles, the first won fourteen years ago. Well done! Chapeau.
