I joined Barilla 15 years ago as a member of the first, newly established Digital Marketing team.
Before Barilla, I worked in a digital agency for a few years. I entered this world almost accidentally as there were no specific courses in the field so I trained myself on the job. I started developing my skills the minute I joined the agency and have kept going ever since, as this a very fast-moving industry and there is always something new to explore and learn.
I have a degree in International Trade and Business, a course of study I chose because of the opportunity it afforded to travel and interact with different cultures. I took a very different career path, but joining Barilla gave me the chance to realise my international ambitions.
My first job was focused on the Italian market and corporate communications.
In 2011, I moved to the United States as responsible of the Digital Marketing Americas team.
On my return from Chicago, I joined the Global Digital Marketing team, and since then my work has increasingly focused on processes, platforms and building capabilities that can help our company market in an increasingly digitalized world.
And when in 2020 our Chief Marketing Officer told us that Barilla wanted to speed up the transformation to compete in an increasingly digitalized and data-driven world, I welcomed the challenge enthusiastically, which is why I am now based in our new London data and tech hub as Marketing Technologies Manager.
The main focus of my work is understanding how technology can help define and execute our marketing plans, suggesting solutions and guiding their implementation.
The success of these projects depends on my ability to involve people with different skills, backgrounds and objectives: technical, creative, legal, business experts, internal and external to the organization, colleagues working in global teams and others working in local markets. By gathering their input and coordinating the various contributions, I can guide the development of solutions that are satisfactory in every respect.
It is rewarding to work for a company which has a strong identity and deep roots but is also resolutely forward-looking. My experience at Barilla has shown me that innovation may be about technology but it also and above all about people, collaboration and continuous evolution.
Looking ahead, I'm excited to continue exploring new frontiers of digital marketing, helping turn our vision into reality. I would advise anyone entering this world to always be curious, not to fear change and to see every challenge as an opportunity to grow and learn!
