I am a first generation Mexican-American. I am thankful to my parents who came from Mexico in search of a better life, and who provided a great pathway to pursue an education leading to a successful career.
I started my career in Information Technology (IT) within the Financial Services sector for a global banking entity, HSBC. I was fortunate with being introduced to many cultures and meeting a diverse set of people during my career at the bank. I transitioned into a cybersecurity career and obtained my Master of Science from DePaul University in Chicago.
I started my cybersecurity role in the pharmaceutical industry and then transitioned into a new opportunity at Barilla in November 2021.
As Region America’s cybersecurity professional, I am working in a matrix role with IT teams and business partners in raising cyber awareness. Indeed, cybersecurity is an important area requiring our collective effort to protect our employees, data, & systems from malicious cyber actors.
It is exciting working with different individuals at Barilla. I have a chance to increase the importance of cybersecurity while learning more about the business when speaking with folks from Marketing, Logistics, Legal, Sales, Plant Automation for example.
My goal in my current role is to learn more about Barilla and the CPG industry and help contribute to Barilla's success as the leading Food company.
Also, I was given the opportunity to co-lead one of Barilla’s Employee Resource Group (ERG) in the region called Alleanza. The support from my co-lead, Alleanza members, and our region’s leadership team is strong which makes this an enjoyable experience. This is one of my highlights working for Barilla.
Although there is always a challenge to balance work commitments, the benefits of working and meeting different individuals have been great!
