I started my career in 2004 with Kraft Foods, which provided the foundation in supporting multiple areas within finance. After eight years with the company, an opportunity was presented to me for an open role at Barilla.
I recall during my interview process getting the sense that my interviewers genuinely liked their job. This is what stood out the most to me and helped me in accepting the offer to join Barilla in October 2012 as a Process Controlling Analyst in the USA office. In March 2015 I was promoted to the Market Controlling group where I had to support both the USA and Canada markets and a few months after, I relocated to Toronto and joined the Canadian team. I have spent almost 4 years in Canada before moving back to Chicago again.
As you can imagine my job involves a lot of data analysis that needs to be careful and accurate, especially when you need to manage multiple systems. In isolation may not sound very engaging but seeing the impact of any analysis on the decision-making and then on the finished product on the shelf, it becomes quite rewarding. It is not given in any company that you are treated as a partner, no matter what your job is, and that you get the chance to experience the impact of everyone’s job to the overall result.
More than that, I got the chance to experience a different culture and working methodology. Prior to Barilla, the thought of working abroad never crossed my mind. Now I am back in USA after spending 4 years living and working in Canada and I am extremely proud of this decision. It has been very rewarding both on professional and personal side. Then I had the opportunity to be part of an agile team working on a strategic project for a few months. It was the most interesting project I have done mainly because of the methodology behind that made me feel as if I am working for a start-up.
One of the most rewarding things was the fact that I had to assist the team in many things that were not touching my functional expertise necessarily, which adds up a lot on my professional growth!
