My first interaction with Barilla was when I was studying for my Master’s degree in Strategic Management at the University of Lund. We worked as a class with Barilla on a project regarding the Wasa brand. It was an experience that stayed with me because it brought me closer to the culture and business of Barilla.
After my studies I moved to Amsterdam where I worked within finance for a year, but felt that there was something missing. I had realized that I enjoyed working with figures but wanted to be even closer to the customer or consumer. With the Wasa project in mind, I reached out to Barilla HR to see if there were any openings within Sales or Marketing. Luckily there was an open position as Sales Representative for which I applied and I managed to get.
The role gave me valuable in-store experience and knowledge about the customer's approach, which for me has been essential for my development within Barilla. After almost a year as a sales representative, I joined the Marketing team of Wasa. Since then I have had different positions mainly within Sales. First as Market Professional working with the distributors in Denmark and Finland to develop and implement the business plans for the Wasa and Barilla brands. Then into the role of Key Account Manager where I have managed different retail customers in Sweden.
After some years as Key Account Manager I got interested to see how the business operates in Supply Chain, an area with which I had very close interaction with before but never totally exposed to its own operation. I was sure that I could bring opportunities for improvements with the knowledge acquired in my experience in sales and marketing, but also that I had alot to learn. I am therefore very glad I got the chance to move into my current position, as Customer Service and Demand Planning Manager for Northern Europe. I am also part of the Northern Europe Leadership team where I get to contribute to both strategic and operational matters for all business areas. I learn a lot and find it very educative and inspiring.
Throughout my work life in Barilla, I find that a willingness to continuously learn and be curious has helped me adapt to the different environments and demands no matter where I worked or what I’ve done, and it continuous to be so today. I have also had managers encouraging me and helped me grow in different ways. I am very glad that I have the opportunity to satisfy my drive and curiosity in an caring environment such as Barilla, where the long-term strategy and authenticity, guide most of the things we do. On top, I get to work with very strong brands and highly competent people.
