I like to open my computer for Barilla every morning because I feel at home here, like in the heart of an extended family. Even though this wasn't what I was specifically looking for in the first place when I joined the company.
When I graduated from my master's degree, I was looking for an employer who could do the split: making down to earth products I could passionately stand for, but at the same time offering growth opportunities across exciting geographies and functions. Barilla made the race.
After 6 years in I can confirm I found it all: I have held three positions, in three countries, in three functions, always selling products I enjoy. It has been a fantastic journey, but it’s the people who make experiences really count: my colleagues, the barilla people.
My journey in Barilla started in Key Account Management in Barilla Austria. Although I used to say I'll never work in sales, the Barilla team encouraged me to give it a try and it turned out to be a truly foundational experience for my career. The start-up like spirit of the small team in Austria was a bonus, because I was trusted to take on responsibility from day one, but also had the support to do so.
As I had already been involved in some marketing projects in Austria, I had the opportunity to deepen this experience with a position in Consumer Marketing in Barilla Switzerland. Switzerland was the perfect place for me to gain 360 degree marketing knowledge, as Barilla sells a wide portfolio of products in this market, that also requires marketing to cover its three official languages. All this complexity is managed by a small, but strong team, which gives you the possibility to do and see it all.
After my experience in sales and marketing I moved to my current position in Global Strategy & Intelligence in our headquarter in Parma. This newly created position in a truly global team offers a steep learning curve and room to shape the position I hold, and the insights into different functions and geographies make every day exciting.
Working in the headquarters, where all information run together, and equally our products leave production to reach consumers all over the world, also adds a special dimension to my adventure in Barilla.
While the places, the teams and the daily routines have changed during my journey with Barilla, the spirit of the people I had the pleasure to work with has been a constant. Barilla people are passionate about what they do, curious and dedicated. They will challenge you, but they will also coach you, cheer for you and check in with you as a person, ultimately supporting you to overcome the challenges.
