Our stories
We take pride in our international teams, knowing that the best experiences are those we share with each other.
“Being a Plant Director is about being able to perfectly manage both tangible and intangible resources, with daily commitment!”
Since I started working at Barilla, the focus has always been on tackling challenging projects and aiming to achieve ambitious results. Nothing could have been accomplished without the people at Barilla and the values that guide our company.
After graduating in Aeronautical Engineering, I joined Barilla in 1993, where I worked as an engineer with our Research & Development Department and, subsequently, on pasta production equipment.
In those years, I learned how thorough our skills are and how high we set the bar for innovation and technological excellence.
In 1997 I was asked to go to Ames, in the USA, to oversee the construction, from scratch, of the mill and pasta production plant: the first one in North America.
It was kind of a pioneering job, ranging from equipment installation to people scouting, from the logistics network to setting up the production process. Here I realized just how powerful our way of working is, as we were able to commission an entire integrated production plant in less than two years.
In 1999, I returned to Italy, where I worked in different roles at our bakery plants: first in Cremona and then in Castiglione delle Stiviere.
Bakery processes are astonishing: so many raw materials are turned into wonderful and delicious products: it’s some kind of magic, isn’t it?
I returned to our Parma Headquarters in 2009, to our Purchasing Department, as Indirect Category Director. This business experience gave me the opportunity to improve my networking skills, striving to build long-term relationships based on win-win negotiations.
And after that, I had the chance to go back to operations as Pedrignano Plant Director in late 2016: it seems that I needed to keep my hands in pasta!
Size and capacity matters here at the largest pasta production plant in the world; but, once again, the human factor and the relationship with people are the most important aspects for our company.
I have been working with Barilla for 30 years, and I have been the Plant Director of our pasta production plant in Pedrignano since 2016.
For me, being a Plant Director is about being able to perfectly manage both tangible and intangible resources: taking care of our excellent products on a daily basis is only possible by working together every day with our passionate, competent and loyal people.
Because only a strong team can ensure the very high and consistent standards that we have set for our production plants!
